Legends Rocking Horses

Alec Kinane, the founder of Legends Rocking Horses, has been hand-carving rocking horses and performing restoration work for over 20 years.

Being part of the Kinane family, who are very well known in the horse racing world, his passion for horses comes as no surprise. This strong influence together with his interest in Greek and Roman carving and his astonishing artistic flair are all reflected in the quality, detail and realism of his carving. His horses are all works of art befitting the most desirable heirloom.

By performing many restorations of antique horses and studying the various construction techniques, Alec could see which horses better stood the test of time whilst still allowing for beautiful carving detail and individuality of design. By using the very best of these old techniques and combining this with his own artistic style he has created exceptional rocking horses admired by old and young alike.

Beverley, his wife, joined the business in 1995 to take over the painting, staining, varnishing and tacking up of the horses. Again she has learnt many techniques from restoration work in order to achieve the very best hand-finished horses in keeping with a traditional style whilst developing some of her own for a more contemporary look.

Although we have had many opportunities to expand our business we remain a small, family run concern firmly committed to producing the most beautiful, hand-made rocking horses at affordable prices direct to the public. We enjoy meeting our customers and discussing their ideas and requirements with them. We feel it important that our customers can meet the key craftspeople behind our creations and see how our horses are made, together with the variety and quality of our rocking horses.
